This is one out of three e-lectures on Child Sexual Abuse. Leading experts from the ranks of ISPCAN share their views and specialism on the subject of sexual abuse in interviews recorded during the European ISPCAN conference in Dublin in September 2013.

This e-lecture consists of three chapters. Each chapter is presented by an international authority in the area of dealing with child abuse and in particular sexual abuse: Dr. Eileen Vizard, child and adult psychiatrist, tells about the background of sexual abusers and about the role that parents and professionals can play in prevention and early recognition of abuse. You will also learn how you can react effectively to early signs. Joan van Niekerk, MSc and social worker, tells why it is important that professionals pay attention to boys and men in order to thus prevent them from becoming sexual abusers. She tells about the role that men and boys play in parenthood and how you as a professional can make a positive contribution to this. 

Dr. Arnon Bentovim, Child and Family Psychiatrist, explains to you how - on the basis of the seven stages model - you can carry out an adequate assessment, analysis and intervention when you suspect that a child has been sexually abused and/or is being abused and neglected.
